Key highlights include the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club, expected to welcome over 40,000 fans daily, alongside concerts, festivals, and community celebrations throughout the month.

Top Events to Look Forward to

The month kicks off with “Superfine at the Gantt: Exploring Black Dandyism” at the Harvey B. Gantt Center, taking place on May 2 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Following this event, the “Lovin’ Live Music Fest” will be held at First Ward Park from May 2-4, with varied timings to showcase a mix of musical talents.

On May 3, two major events are scheduled, including a much-anticipated performance by “Kendrick Lamar & SZA” at Bank of America Stadium at 7 p.m., alongside a “Cinco de Mayo Bar Crawl” in various venues across Uptown from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

As the month progresses, “5th Street Live” will commence at Truist Plaza on May 8, running from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Another major highlight will be the “Meck Mile” at Memorial Stadium on May 10, with gates opening at 1:30 p.m.

From May 12-18, sports fans will have their eyes on the “2025 PGA Championship,” at Quail Hollow Club with various activities scheduled throughout the week. Tickets for this prestigious event are now available, although weekday and Saturday tickets have already sold out, with prices ranging from $70 to $1,250. Additionally, championship tickets come with benefits including complimentary food and non-alcoholic drinks at concession stands; children 15 and under are permitted free entry with a paid adult.

Festivals and Community Gatherings

On May 17, “Souled Out Dates” at Camp North End will take place from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., coinciding with the “Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival” at Ballantyne’s Backyard starting at noon. The weekend will also feature “Japan Fest” on May 17 and 18 at the Urban District Market, running from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Following these festivities, the “Water Lantern Festival” is scheduled for May 23 at Symphony Park, inviting attendees from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

On May 25, the “Coca-Cola 600” will take place at Charlotte Motor Speedway at 6 p.m., followed by a rock concert featuring “Metallica” on their M72 World Tour at Bank of America Stadium on May 31 at 6 p.m.

Visitors attending the PGA Championship should note that public parking will not be available at Quail Hollow Club. A shuttle service will be provided, along with designated rideshare drop-off zones. Directions from the Triangle area include taking Interstate 40 to Interstate 85 for a quick route. Amtrak service to Charlotte is available, with tickets starting at $29, and the train station is located approximately 15 miles from the golf course. For those flying in, Charlotte Douglas International Airport is about a 30-minute drive away, with rideshare options readily accessible.
