Charlotte, North Carolina – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) is set to hold graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2025 this summer, with events taking place across various venues in the city. The schedule includes multiple days of celebrations, ensuring that all graduates have the opportunity to participate in this significant milestone.

  • Monday, June 16 | Ovens Auditorium
  • Tuesday, June 17 | Bojangles Coliseum

Following these ceremonies, all graduates will convene for the summer graduation ceremony on Thursday, August 7, 2025, which will take place at Bojangles Coliseum. Students and their families should mark their calendars to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2025.

As part of the graduation experience, CMS has requested that attendees adhere to specific guidelines regarding items that can be brought into the venues. Non-clear bags must not exceed dimensions of 4.5” x 6.5”, while clear bags must not exceed 12” x 6” x 12”. Guests attempting to enter with larger bags will be prohibited from admission.

Individuals traveling in the vicinity of the venues are advised to expect heavy traffic delays due to the influx of graduates, families, and attendees attending the ceremonies. Planning for extra travel time may help alleviate stress on the day of the event.

In addition to the graduation announcements, CMS has been highlighted in a report by Niche, which ranks 1,069 schools in North Carolina for 2025. This report featured the top 10 high schools in the state, all of which received A+ overall scores. Notably, half of these top-ranked schools are located in the Triangle area, demonstrating the excellence in education that can be found across the state.

The top-ranked schools identified by Niche include:

  • North Carolina School of Science & Mathematics (Public)
  • Cary Academy (Private)
  • Durham Academy (Private)
  • Providence Day School (Private)
  • Salem Academy (Private)
  • Raleigh Charter High School (Public)
  • The Early College at Guilford (Public)
  • Charlotte Country Day School (Private)
  • Ravenscroft School (Private)
  • Christ School (Private)

These rankings were compiled using metrics from the U.S. Department of Education, including state test scores and graduation rates, which are vital indicators of school performance.

Despite these accolades, North Carolina ranks 48th in funding level and 49th in funding effort for public schools, which raises questions about the resources available to support student success across the state.

The upcoming graduation ceremonies and the recognition of top-performing schools highlight the ongoing commitment of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to education and the achievements of its students as they move toward graduation and future endeavors.
