Charlotte Celebrates 16 Years of Independent Black Media
Hey there, Charlotte! We’re throwing a little party here because it’s a special time for our community. Can you believe it? We’re celebrating 16 years of local, independent, Black-owned and Black-led media right here in the Queen City! 🎉 That’s right, for over a decade and a half, people have turned to us for the stories that matter most to you, your families, and our neighborhoods.

Tragic News on the Streets
The community is shaken, and our thoughts are with Yexon’s family and friends during this heartbreaking time. CMPD is still working on the investigation and has not released any details about suspects or motives yet. This is an ongoing situation, and we’ll keep our ears to the ground for updates.
Your Voice Matters
Let’s take a moment to remember that every act of violence not only affects those directly involved but sends ripples through our community. As we acknowledge this tragic event, it reminds us of why our work is so important – to support each other, stay informed, and create a safer, more connected environment.
As we celebrate our 16th birthday, let’s come together as a community. Let’s uplift one another, share our stories, and advocate for a brighter future. We owe it to ourselves to continue building a rich, informed community that thrives on engagement, connection, and mutual support.
Join the Celebration!
If you want to add to the festivities, don’t forget to join our community events and discussions. Get connected, stay informed, and if you’re feeling generous, help support our mission by joining our Press Club or making a donation. It’s all about creating a voice for our community.
Here’s to the next 16 years of independent Black media in Charlotte! Let’s make it a journey worth celebrating!
