16-year-old Jamariyee Dixon died on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, four days after being shot in a triple shooting incident in north Charlotte. The shooting occurred on the evening of Friday, May 23, shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Stroud Park Court, which is located near Interstate 77.

Police responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call and discovered three individuals with gunshot wounds at the scene. Two of the victims, including Dixon, sustained life-threatening injuries and were urgently transported to a local hospital. The third victim, aged 22, received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

In connection with the shooting, authorities have charged Marion McKnight, a 20-year-old man, with murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder. McKnight is currently being held without bond for the murder charge, while bail for the attempted murder charges has been set at $1 million.

Law enforcement identified McKnight as the suspect following a review of video footage from the crime scene, which clearly showed him pulling a firearm and discharging it at several individuals. He was arrested shortly after the shooting and booked into Mecklenburg County Jail.
