Charlotte Prepares for Spectacular Thanksgiving Eve Parade on November 27, 2024

Charlotte Gears Up for the Annual Thanksgiving Eve Parade!

Guess what, Charlotte? The excitement is building as we get ready for the return of one of the city’s most beloved traditions, the Thanksgiving Eve Parade! Mark your calendars for November 27, 2024, because the parade kicks off at 5:45 p.m. in the heart of downtown. This is not just any parade; it’s a spectacular display featuring bright lights, dazzling floats, and toe-tapping music that brings the community together.

When and Where to Watch

WCCB will be on the scene, providing *live coverage from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.*, so those who can’t make it downtown can still feel part of the festive fun from the comfort of their homes. The parade will wind its way through a mile-long route that begins at 9th Street and entertains spectators all the way down to Good Samaritan Way on Tryon Street. With an estimated crowd of 100,000 lining the sidewalks, and over a million expected to tune in from home, it’s shaping up to be a night to remember!

What to Expect

As the sun sets, the streets will come alive! Expect to see impressive marching bands filling the air with lively tunes, and don’t miss out on the talented dance groups adding even more excitement along the route. Each float shines brighter than the last, with colorful decorations that will delight spectators of all ages. Remember, even though VIP spots for viewing are sold out, there are plenty of fantastic viewing areas available along Tryon Street from 9th Street to Brooklyn Village Avenue. Tip for all you early birds: to secure the best spot, aim to arrive by 5:30 p.m.!

Getting There: Your Options!

For those planning to hop on public transport, the light rail is a convenient option! Just disembark at 7th Street, Transportation Center/Arena, or 3rd Street stations. You can obtain tickets at any station, or make it even easier by using the CATS-Pass app to grab your ticket on the go. If you’re driving, pay attention! There are road closures starting on November 25 at 6 p.m., continuing until November 27 at 5 p.m., so make sure to check the event website for parking options. Once the parade wraps up, everything will reopen by midnight!
