Charlotte is gearing up for a vibrant Fourth of July weekend packed with celebrations, events, and festive fireworks. With classic summer weather expected, temperatures are forecasted to reach the upper 80s to low 90s, though rain is anticipated on Sunday. Residents and visitors are encouraged to plan their holiday activities in advance to fully enjoy the array of offerings while being mindful of road conditions and traffic.

Key Events and Fireworks Schedule

Exciting events throughout the weekend include the Independence Day Parade in Waxhaw, starting at 10:00 a.m. on July 4. For families looking for educational fun, the Independence Day at the Museum is set to take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ahead of the holiday, the 7.04 Day Block Party will kick off the celebrations on July 3, featuring live music and community gatherings. Popular among local residents, the River Jam on July 3 will offer live music beginning at 7 p.m., followed by the Red, White, & Belmont concert, which will run from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and conclude with a fireworks display.

The South End Farmer’s Market will also be open on July 3 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Atherton Mill, providing a great opportunity for fresh local produce and crafts. Meanwhile, from July 5, visitors can enjoy the Queen Charlotte Fair in Concord, featuring carnival rides, games, and a variety of food options.

On July 5, the city’s own Charlotte FC will be playing against Orlando City SC at 7 p.m., adding to the excitement of the holiday festivities. On July 4, the Front Porch Sundays pop-up market will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., while the illustrious Downtown Jazz Jam is scheduled for Sunday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Power House Food Hall in Rock Hill.

Fireworks Access and Safety Guidelines

Charlotte’s main firework display, the SkyShow 2025, will light up the night sky following the Charlotte Knights game at Truist Field on July 3, starting at 6:05 p.m. Road closures are anticipated in uptown Charlotte before and during the festivities. Key streets will close starting at 6 p.m. and again at 9 p.m. to ensure safe viewing of the fireworks. Residents are encouraged to arrive early to secure their spots.

Romare Bearden Park will provide free access to fireworks displays for the public, eliminating any need for tickets. Local law enforcement has advised drivers to expect heavy traffic and suggested using alternative routes or public transportation during the Independence Day celebrations, to ease congestion.

Additional Celebrations

Several other celebrations are planned, including a dual-day event called U.S. of Cay featuring numerous activities on July 4-5 in Tega Cay and a festival hosted by the City of Monroe kicking off at 5 p.m. on July 4. Thrill-seekers can also look forward to fireworks at Carowinds on July 4 and 5.

With an extensive range of festivities designed to celebrate American independence, Charlotte is set to be a hub of excitement and community spirit this Fourth of July weekend. Residents are encouraged to plan early, consider alternative transportation options, and join in the jubilant celebrations honoring this national holiday.
