News Summary

Cedric Gerald, principal of Westview Middle School in St. Louis, has been charged with multiple child sex crimes including sexual trafficking and exploitation. The disturbing allegations arose after four students reported inappropriate behavior, leading to an investigation into Gerald’s actions. As more details emerge, community concerns about student safety grow. Legal representatives are now advocating for additional victims to come forward while the school district faces scrutiny over its protections for children.

St. Louis, Missouri — Cedric Gerald, the principal of Westview Middle School, has been arrested and charged with multiple child sex crimes, including the sexual trafficking of a child and sexual exploitation of a minor. The charges, revealed by law enforcement, highlight serious allegations that have shocked the community and raised concerns about the safety of students.

Gerald, 48, is being held in jail on a $1 million cash-only bond, with no option for a reduced bond. The range of charges against him includes possession of child pornography, attempted statutory sodomy, sexual misconduct with a child under 15, sexual contact with a student, harassment, and two counts of statutory sodomy. Authorities began investigating after four students reported that Gerald engaged in inappropriate behavior, which allegedly occurred between January 1, 2023, and May 14, 2025.

According to reports, victims disclosed receiving inappropriate video calls and text messages from Gerald in exchange for payment. This alarming revelation prompted an immediate investigation, during which Gerald reportedly admitted to some of the allegations during a police interview. As the inquiry proceeds, detectives suspect that there may be more victims given Gerald’s extensive interaction with children.

Legal representatives from Simon Law and O’Brien Law Firm have stepped in to represent six victims and are encouraging anyone else who may have been victimized to come forward. Attorney Mary Simon highlighted the importance of accountability from the school districts and the need for enhanced safeguards to protect children from similar incidents in the future.

Prior to his appointment at Westview Middle School, Gerald worked as a high school principal in the Ferguson Florissant School District from July 2016 until October 2024, following a tenure at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools from 2000 to 2013. Notably, no disciplinary actions were recorded against him during his time in Charlotte. He also held a position as a secondary curriculum specialist at Washington County Schools in Plymouth, North Carolina.

In light of the serious allegations, the Riverview Gardens School District placed Gerald on administrative leave, after which he resigned from his position. The ongoing investigation is expected to reveal more details, and law enforcement officials stress the importance of ensuring that no child faces such predatory behavior in schools.

As the situation develops, it remains a critical moment for both the community and school officials to take necessary steps to protect children from potential abuse. The investigation continues, and the school district is under scrutiny to assess the measures in place to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

The charges against Gerald reveal a disturbing pattern of behavior that raises questions about the responsibilities of educational institutions in safeguarding their students. With the investigation still open, authorities are urging anyone with additional information or who may have experienced similar actions to come forward.

As this case unfolds, the implications could extend beyond Missouri, potentially involving other states where Gerald has previously worked. The focus remains on supporting the victims and ensuring appropriate actions are taken to hold Gerald accountable for his alleged crimes.
