News Summary

The Savannah Bananas are set to perform at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium, making baseball history with their lively ‘Banana Ball’ style. Scheduled for two sold-out games against the Party Animals, an estimated 150,000 fans will attend this unprecedented event. The festivities include a pregame party, merchandise sales, and local player appearances. This marks an exciting debut for baseball at the stadium, promising fun and entertainment for all attendees.

CHARLOTTE – The Savannah Bananas are set to bring their unique brand of baseball entertainment to Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium this weekend, with two games scheduled for June 6 and 7 at 7 p.m. ET. This event will mark the first-ever baseball games held at the stadium, which is primarily home to the NFL’s Carolina Panthers and MLS’ Charlotte FC.

The Savannah Bananas will face off against the Party Animals in a highly anticipated series, as demand for tickets has resulted in a complete sellout of the games. An estimated 150,000 spectators are expected to attend over the two-night event. Game-goers are promised an electrifying atmosphere, with baseball played in a lively style known as “Banana Ball,” which integrates various entertainment elements throughout the game to enhance the spectator experience.

The games will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and available for streaming on FUBO (with a free trial), ESPN+, and Disney+. Fans can expect exciting activities surrounding the games starting at 11 a.m. on both days, which will include merchandise sales, a pregame party, player appearances, and a show titled “Before the Peel.” Gates will open at 4:30 p.m., allowing fans ample time to soak in the pre-game festivities.

A specially prepared baseball diamond has been constructed at Bank of America Stadium, featuring a painted infield and protective netting to create a playable field. The dimensions also present a unique challenge, with a short porch in right field that measures approximately 260 feet, a result of the NFL sideline’s existing design.

This tour stop in Charlotte stands out as the only one featuring two consecutive nights of games, reflecting the Bananas’ popularity and the high demand for tickets. Before arriving in Charlotte, the team successfully visited various cities, including Atlanta, Clemson, Kansas City, Miami, Nashville, and Tampa, each leading to a unique experience for baseball fans.

Local participation is highlighted by three players with ties to Charlotte: Eric Jones Jr. from the Bananas, and Reece Hampton and Jake Skole from the Party Animals. Eric Jones Jr. is a Charlotte native who played his high school baseball at South Mecklenburg High School before continuing his education and baseball career at Davidson College. Reece Hampton also brings local flavor, having attended Charlotte Christian School and later playing at UNC Charlotte.

Jesse Cole, the founder of the Savannah Bananas, previously served as the general manager of the Gastonia Grizzlies. He emphasizes the importance of dreaming big and taking risks in the pursuit of building memorable experiences for fans. The Bananas’ approach to baseball is not just about the sport; it is about creating moments of joy and excitement that resonate with audiences.

With advanced preparations in place, the Savannah Bananas are poised to deliver a memorable baseball experience this weekend in Charlotte, making the most of their debut at Bank of America Stadium. This event not only signifies a milestone for the stadium but also showcases the fusion of sports and entertainment that the Bananas bring to every game.
