The sheer size of this new advanced care facility is impressive, with a planned total of 1.1 million square feet when completed in 2027. Collin Lane, senior vice president of facilities management for Atrium Health, praised the efforts of everyone involved in the construction. “We are grateful for all the workers, especially DPR Construction and Roberts Builders, who have spent countless hours on this project,” he remarked. This project is part of a broader commitment by Atrium Health to modernize and expand medical services in the Charlotte region. Ground broke on the 12-story facility in July 2023, situated on Blythe Road in the Dilworth neighborhood. It is a key component in a transformation aimed at improving healthcare infrastructure in Charlotte, which has been rapidly growing. CMC has a long history, dating back to its opening in 1940 as Charlotte Memorial Hospital, and it has flourished into the largest medical facility in the region and a top-ranked hospital according to U.S. News & World Report.

In 2018, Atrium Health announced plans to invest over $1 billion in capital expenditures for facilities in the Charlotte area.
