Major Highways in Mecklenburg County

Mecklenburg County sits at the convergence of Interstate 77, Interstate 85, Interstate 277, Interstate 485, and US-74. Together these routes carry essentially every commercial truck, commuter car, and out-of-state visitor that touches Charlotte in a given day — which is why a single closure or rolling backup on any one of them ripples across the rest within minutes.

  North-south spine through Uptown; connects to Columbia SC (south) and Statesville/Charleston WV (north).
