MILWAUKEE — Three players who will not be in uniform for the Brewers-Rays World Series will still be part of it: Major League Baseball said Thursday that Boston pitcher Payton Tolle, veteran infielder Miguel Rojas and Toronto’s Ernie Clement will work as player correspondents.
Tolle handles Media Day and Game 1 in Milwaukee, appearing on the league’s own TV channel and making content for its social accounts. The young left-hander set personal bests this year with nine wins, a 3.03 ERA, 148 2/3 innings and 171 strikeouts.
Rojas, a Venezuelan infielder with two championship rings who finished a 13-year career in 2026, will also be in Milwaukee for those first days, conducting Spanish-language interviews with coaches and players from both clubs.
Clement takes over for Games 3 and 4 when the series moves to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. He set a postseason record with 30 hits during Toronto’s 2025 run and made his first All-Star team this summer as the American League’s starting second baseman. He cooled after July and finished with a .259 average, nine homers and 48 RBIs in 158 games.
The league started the correspondent program in 2021 to give fans a behind-the-scenes view through player-led interviews. Game 1 is set for 8 p.m. Eastern on Friday at American Family Field.
