CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson junior defensive tackle Hevin Brown-Shuler has wrapped up his cancer treatment and is setting his sights on a return to the field.

Doctors found a mass in his chest during offseason workouts in May, and it turned out to be Hodgkin lymphoma. His last treatment session came on Oct. 22, and he marked it by ringing the bell.

Hodgkin lymphoma is a cancer that starts in the lymph system, part of the immune system that helps the body fight infection and disease. Painless swollen lymph nodes are among its common warning signs.

Brown-Shuler has one more scan set for Nov. 2. If it comes back clean, he plans to begin working back toward playing next season. He has two years of eligibility left and logged six tackles in seven games across his first two seasons.

He stayed close to the team through treatment, coaching teammates during practice, and he now serves as an ambassador for Blood Cancer United, a group that funds research and supports patients and families.
